This is the most sensible proposal I've seen so far on this list. Who's
going to put up the free server? I've noticed that "freecddb.org" was
listed on slashdot as a free server. It supports the (now deprecated)
CDDBP protocol, but not the HTTP version. Was HTTP added after the
commercial server forked from the free one?
Once we've got a free database, converting it to a new format will be
trivial.
