I can't do anything about the former, but there is now an archive of
sorts. http://cd.ro.nu/ is a hypermail archive of the messages I have
received from the cdindex mailing list since I subscribed on Tuesday,
9 Mar 1999 07:42:32 -0800. If anyone has the earlier messages, I can
prepend them.

Mind you, I really agree with Greg---we should be using the cdin list.
I subscribed to it early. But nobody wants to be first to move, so most
of the posts there are CCs of other lists. I think it was a bad plan
to split the cdin list so soon---it will be even harder to get people
to move over now.

See http://cd.ro.nu/mbox
