Like most of the new list members, I saw the announcement on freshmeat. :)
First of all, let me commend the authors for setting this up; it's great
to see free alternative to the cddb since they've gone all proprietary on
us. Way to go!
Just a couple of questions as a new user:
I notice that when you're checking for 'previously existing artists' many
are alphabetized by their first names. With some artists, it's a
judgement call, but surely 'Peter Gabriel' should be under 'G' not 'P'?
Where's the server source? It seems to me it needs more help than the
client at this point, so the SQL db generation script and the cgi's ought
to be available so we don't re-invent that part, no? Not to mention
snapshot dumps of the database.
How are we handling non US-ASCII characters? The first (new :-) cd I went
to enter is french. I just left off the accents, but surely we can do
better than that. But unicode? html-encoding? What do people think?
