NNTP isn't suitable but the ideas behind it are better than the current
CDDB.

My interest in using a format like NNTP is to make the database distributed;
without an 'offical' center. This is the key to preventing the CDDB/Escient
situation from every arising again. Look at www.dejanews.com. They're
profiting from usenet using banner ads. Don't like them? Use a real NNTP
server and client.

I'm still not clear on how DNS would work better than CDDB.

I'm opposed to this covert art foolishness. The pictures are covered by
copyright law. Why open this can of worms? Look at the recent lyrics
fiasco. Why get the lawyers in a frenzy by even considering this?

Good, fast, cheap; pick two. You can't have it all.
