We have discussed this earlier, but unfortunately, there isn't a mail
archive available for new readers :-)
I think our current thought is to have two mechanisms "into" the backend
database. One servers up the new protocol (people are leaning to HTTP
and XML), and the other servers up class CDDB responses.
We don't actually need to have a translating/proxy server or anything,
just two entry CGIs (or whatever drives the server).
