Okay this may have already been addressed, but here goes.
I think we need to seriously figure out how to structure this database,
this is the key item...doesn't matter what we do it with cause we can use
the best interface in the world but fact is if the underlying structure is
cruddy it all is. I speak from experience, for a while I ran a database of
Ska albums (over 2730 seperate songs, 189 seperate artists, and 285
albums). Because the initial database structure was flawed I ran into
problems later when I tried to make it faster and whatnot, plus I did not
allow room for expansion, and thereby if I wanted to add new fields it
required a rewrite of the whole query interface. So it would be a good idea
to include some kind of random or wild fields that are user definable
within a certain set. I would like to help out with this project if I can,
I have experience with database interaction through ASP, HTMLScript. Also I
can do rapid app-development with TCL so we could quickly test out new
ideas and what not. Just point me in the right direction and I'll do what I
can.
